I have a table and report where we calculate each employee's individual capacity percentage by adding up the hours they have placed into a table and dividing it by 40. I now need to take those employees and show the same type of percentage but based off each manager. So if Team A has 4 people, Team B has 5 and Team C has 3, how can I show the team's percentage in a report?
Has anyone had a fix to have a report name on the dashboard assuming the chart report is empty and there's no records to show. I would like to know the report without having to view the full report. This is how it is displayed. I know I can create a richtext above the report to show the report title but that's not an efficient way to use the field and also it will look weird when the report has data since there will be two titles and there are not rules to defy this.
The Quickbase Junkie has her reasons. Can you believe that Quickbasehas been hosting Empower since 2015?! Much has changed since then (even how we spell "Quickbase") but Empower is still Empower: the best place to connect with others who use and love Quickbase. Today we hear from Sharon Faust, Qrew Legend, also known as the QuickBaseJunkie! Sharon Faust, the eponymous Quickbase JunkieWhat are the top 2–3 “can’t miss” experiences for first-time Empower attendees? Firstly don't skip the opening keynote presentation. It may be tempting to focus on just the sessions... DON'T. The product keynote is the best way to get the Cliff Notes version of new product features, the roadmap, and many little nuggets of information that may influence your plans for the event and beyond. Between sessions there are demo booths, product labs, and support staff where you can talk one-on-one with Quickbase Product Managers and Customer Support. This face time is sooooo va
Hey Qrew!👋I'll be heading down to Houston for Empower this May 18th - 21st and would love to connect with any Colorado people! Are you making the trip? Drop a comment below if you're going! Let's find a time to meet up! Perhaps we can visit Jessica at the Quandry booth?!Can't wait to see y'all in Texas! 🤠
Good afternoon, Quickbase world,Asking this question before opening a full-on case review to see if anyone has ever seen this and may know how to correct it.I have a person who needs to receive notification emails from multiple apps, and at this point, is receiving them from at least 2 apps. But a 3rd app she needs to get a notification email from, she never receives. We have checked her junk, deleted emails, etc, and she gets the other 2 just fine.I have checked her email spelling, copied it directly from Outlook into the notification. I've checked all the settings of what causes the Notification to trigger, and have even put myself on the notification to receive it as a test and confirm that it sends.I received the notification email, but she did not. Is there any other potential setting that could be blocking it from being received from this one app?
I have a pipeline that says it's updating a record but it's not.I have an identical pipeline that is working. It take a file attachment uploads it to Sharepoint and then updates the quickbase record with the link to the sharepoint attachment.I have two on the same quickbase but different tables. The first one I created works fine and the second one says it works and it does except for updating the quickbase record with the sharepoint link. How can I tell where it is failing?Carol
Good evening Quickbase Community!I have several numeric formula fields that include queries. Due to the volume of data in the table, the queries are no longer working properly. The permanent solution is to move all the queries to a pipeline so that calculations are performed when a new record is entered, but right now I need to recover the data we already have.Until two weeks ago, you could change the field type from numeric formula to plain number, and it would simply display all the data. Now it won't let me do that. It says the data is too large and to ask for help.Any ideas?
As an app developer or designer building multi-table workflows, I want to know the safe limit for relationship depth so that I can avoid overly nested structures that make reports slow, formula unreliable and also hard to maintain the app
How do I design for future fields I don’t know yet without overengineering?
As a Quickbase builder managing a growing application, I want to understand how relationships impact system performance so that I can design my data model in a way that stays fast, scalable, and easy to maintain as complexity increases.
As a system architect building interconnected tables, I want to prevent circular dependencies so that my data model remains stable, avoids infinite loops, and does not break reporting, syncing, or automation logic.
As a user relying on lookup fields for real-time data visibility, I want to understand why lookups sometimes slow down or show inconsistent values so that I can identify performance bottlenecks and ensure my data stays accurate and responsive.
How do I redesign an app when tables start becoming tightly coupled and slow?
Did QB recently (within the past few months) make any updates that would impact a user being auto-logged out due to inactivity? Admittedly this hasn't happened to me as I spend a big chunk of my day in QB, but I've had a lot of users complain that they've been getting logged out more and more often. Apparently they used to go the entire day without getting logged out (despite our realm-level policy being set at 2 hours of inactivity before triggering a log out), and now they're reporting as little as 30 minutes of inactivity before being asked to log back in again. It's a mild annoyance that's impacted a lot of my users.Something I never really noticed because I hardly go 20 minutes without using QB during work hours, but maybe our 2 hour logout policy at the realm level wasn't being enforced properly and now it sort of is?
Assuming I have a big app which is starting to lag and the field and relationships are increasinging becoming too many. When should I split one “mega app” into multiple connected apps?
How do I build idempotent workflows (so duplicates don’t get created)?
Implementing a Dark Mode feature in Quickbase would significantly improve the user experience, especially for users who spend long hours in the platform. Dark Mode can help reduce eye strain and make it easier to work across multiple tools that already support darker themes. There is clear user interest in this enhancement, with feedback noting that adjusting screen brightness isn’t an ideal solution for extended use. Adding a native Dark Mode option would align Quickbase with modern UI standards while supporting accessibility and everyday productivity. Overall, this would be a small change with a meaningful impact on comfort and usability.
How do I properly design parent-child-grandchild relationships?
Hello all, I'm still very new to Quickbase, and I could use some help, please.I need to be able to have Quickbase automatically extract all the customer information from a form into a CSV file once an application hits one of the "Approved" stages in the Kanban board, so we can then ideally FTP it to an external ERP. We can make is work with email, but FTP is ideal. This is an important part of the workflow. How can I do this?Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi Everyone! Great seeing you in April and looking forward to our next in person meetup in June. We're going to skip May due to Empower and looking forward to hearing about your Empower experience and questions when we meet next. In April, we had a great conversation about Quickbase, AI, and a FastField presentation by Industrial West.In June, we're excited to hear about what you learned from Empower and what questions you have after Empower. We'll also have a Quickbase FastField SME join virtually to answer all your FastField questions. Let's make the June meetup much larger than March and April so be sure to tell all your Customers and future Customers to come join us!
What’s the best way to normalize data in Quickbase without overcomplicating the app?
We have tables Company, Contact, Team Member, Opportunity, and Activity. An Activity is something that a Team Member does (for example a phone call or a meal) with a Contact from a Company. It may or may not relate to an Opportunity that is in work with (the same) Company.Right now we have a regular QuickBase form to add an Activity when needed. There are conditional dropdown fields on it so that once you pick a Company, it only shows the relevant Contacts and Opportunities. If you need to add a new Company and/or a new Contact in order to complete entering your Activity, you can.But sometimes, when an Activity is an event like a big dinner with multiple Contacts (maybe from multiple Companies) then the users have to go through the process multiple times. What they want is a single form where they enter the date and type of Activity, then add multiple Contacts (maybe from multiple Companies) and when they press enter - voila, multiple Activities are crea
Can you believe that Quickbasehas been hosting Empower since 2015?! Much has changed since then (even how we spell "Quickbase") but Empower is still Empower: the best place to connect with others who use and love Quickbase. Today we hear from Quickbase veteran MikeTamoush . Let's see what wisdom he can impart on us. Mike Tamoush. Quickbase Architect. SES Family of Companies. What are you most excited about for Empower this year?(e.g., sessions, speakers, networking, product updates, etc.) I am most looking forward to the networking, but very closely followed by product updates! Empower is really has a great vibe. What challenges or goals are you hoping to focus on while you’re there? Fastfield has been a challenge to successfully integrate with our use cases, so I am hoping to connect with people who can demonstrate how they have implemented in their realm. Why did you decide to attend Empower?Last year was not only a ton of fun, meeting everyone was a valuabl

Anyone who wants to learn some Quickbase and connect with other builders in the community.
I've been going in circles on this and can't figure out if I'm making a mistake or hitting a platform limitation. Would really appreciate any insight. What I'm trying to doI have a Rich Text field called [Jira ID - Description] that contains HTML like this:
Tool Link(s): Group 1
Request Note: N/A
I'm trying to extract the link text ("Group 1") using standard text formula functions. The weird partThese two expressions on the same field, same record give me contradictory results:Contains([Jira ID - Description], "Tool Link") → True Find("Oak Link", [Jira ID - Description]) → 0How can Contains find the text but Find can't? I've tried every capitalization variation, I've triple-checked the record ID in the formula checker, and the field preview clearly shows the content is there. Length() returns 800, so the field isn't empty. What I've already triedMid() — always returns blankL
