Thank you to everyone who joined us for Empower Pro this month. I’m grateful for your time, your questions, and your curiosity. I believe that learning drives innovation. Picking up a new skill often opens the door to an entirely new way of thinking – and then, all of a sudden, you find yourself achieving outcomes that you might have never previously imagined. Changes like that rarely happen overnight, but they are profound and important. They can change how you work, how you see your own potential, and how you see the world.  I hope those of you who were able to attend EmpowerPro learned a new skill, saw things a new way, or saw opportunities to help make your teams work better. As always, we are always looking for ways to connect and answer your questions. We also love hearing about your practical uses for Quickbase and how you’ve solved real business problems, inspired others, and found new ways of working. Or leave a question or comment below! That’s part of who we are, and who we’

I am leaving Notion for QB. I created an exact copy of my Notion database (it was pretty simple) in QB and exported the Notion data into CSV. I started the import and in  the preview screen it looked perfect. But every time I hit "import" I get "Can not update built-in fields values." I can't find any simple solutions to this, just very complex instructions about API, which is a little beyond my skills! Does anyone know of a simple workaround? Thank you!

I have a parent table called Deliverables that pulls in the Project Name into my child table called Buy Out.In Buy Out, each project has multiple Scopes. Each Scope can have many line items over time, with a Date field that’s filled in by the user. What I want:A Table Report that groups by Project Name → then by Scope.Under each Scope, I only want to display the most recent line item (based on the Date field). So if Project A has Scopes Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing, I’d only see the latest record for Electrical, the latest for Mechanical, and the latest for Plumbing. What’s happening now:If I create a Summary field for Maximum Date, it only gives me the most recent record for the whole Project, not per Scope. In a Summary Report, I can see the max dates by Scope, but I can’t get all the other line item details. In a Table Report, I can group and sort so the latest is on top, but I can’t filter it to only show that one row per Scope. What I’m asking:How can I build a Table Report that

I have a form that has 4 sections, that I want to hide or show, based on the selections from two dropdowns.Conditions:If dropdown 1 = "Approval" & dropdown 2 = "A" OR "B" then hide sections 2,3If dropdown 1 = "Approval" & dropdown 2 = "C" then hide sections 2,3 and show section 4If dropdown 1 <> "Approval" & regardless of the value in dropdown 2, I would like it to hide sections 2, 3, 4How can I do this? by the time it gets to the third rule, it shows all the sections.

Is there any way to create placeholders for users intentionally?

Hi,I have a table of Account_Templates. It is a many to many table where many Templates have many Accounts. The Account has an associated lookup value, we'll call Question. Many accounts might have the same value for this Question field.I want my pipeline to search these Account-Templates and create a record on table Template_Questions. A new record should be created for only the unique combinations of field Template and field Question ([Template]-[Question]). My pipeline is currently structured as:1. Prepare Bulk Upsert to Template_Questions2. Search Account_Templates for all recordsLoop{3. For each search record found, add an upsert row where the key field equals "[Template]-[Question]".}Loop End4. Commit UpsertWhen I run this pipeline, I get an error of duplicate values trying to be created. Is there a way to trim the upsert of duplicates before committing it?Alternative ideas are welcome.Thank you,Curtis

Hi!Does anyone know if an app restore will also restore a sync table's connection?

Previously when you would grid edit child records from the parent, clicking save  would redirected back to the parent.  With the new grid edit, it no longer redirects you back to the parent.  Am I missing something?

Hello, Is it possible for me to transfer quantity data on one record to another record? As an example, Record A has 10 laptops. Record B has 5 laptops. I would like to transfer 2 laptops from Record A to Record B. I've tried different methods, but I keep hitting a wall.

Hi all! A daunting task I've put off forever is here. I need to build some dimensional reporting. Here's what I need to do:Extrapolate the following:Total individual clients served within a quarter, by the specific funding stream (upline from Interactions, Clients may be having multiple cases across multiple funding streams, and the stream is set at the Interaction level)Total individuals new that fiscal quarter for the fiscal yearIndividual client demographics (feeding from Client table)Individual client case victimization types (feeding from Case table)Individual clients who received any services across 4 service bucketsAnd then, the easy part, just a quick-and-dirty count of services by sub-category (about 30 of them or so)My table structure:Clients -->    Cases  -->       Interactions     > [Interactions Parent]: Funding Stream     > [Interactions Parent]: Service LineWhat I have built so fa

I have a product table and a buyer table. For me to get the count of purchase made by a buyer I did create a max summary value in the relationship between the two. in the buyer table I can click on the summary value to see the chronology of the purchases. I want to record the purchases in another table by first looking if the buyer has bought more than 3 numbers of products for them to be added in the table. How do I go about this by ensuring I don't have duplicate records an also having this run to add a record when a customer makes another purchase?

We are trying to test out a new version of a form. Our testing group contains people from roles that all use different dashboards. Say we have 20 people in group 1 using dash 1, 20 in group 2 using dash 2, and 20 in group 3 using dash 3. We want 5 people from each of those groups to test out a new form.If we create a role that uses that new form, and move it up the hierarchy they'll get the new form, but they'll all have to share a dashboard. This is not something we can have them do. They need to continue to use their existing dashboards? When will we have the ability to set Dashboards on a per-user level instead of only on a per-role? And what is the reason behind not allowing that?I understand that in this current scenario our only option is likely to create 3 new roles, but that's silly, and starts to become impossible to maintain once we start needing to have others testing different forms and mix-and-match them from different groups. The most simple solution would be to allow per

Hi all. I have a timecards table where users track all the things they're working on. Relatedly, we have a separate child timecard table, with a narrower field list but otherwise the exact same records. This was done a while ago to reduce volume on long term storage of these records because we hit the table limit of 500 MB. So anytime a timecard record gets created or edited in the parent table, there's a pipeline that checks to see if the record has any related child timecard records. If not, it creates a new child timecard record with all the relevant fields populated. If there is already a child timecard record, it updates that child record with all the newest field values. Then as the last step (only for new timecards), updates the newly created child timecard record with the Related Parent Timecard value so it's easy to verify all timecards have exactly 1 child record. Other than being resource-intensive, this pipeline works perfectly fine most of the time. However, twice/mon

Have a timesheets table and it helps with accruing Paid time off.I need to implement a policy that PTO will max out at 160 hours in a running total field. The running total field looks like this:var text QONE = "{23.BF.'" & [Date] & "'}AND {56.EX.'"& [Related Resource] &"'}";var text QTWO = "{23.EX.'" &[Date] & "'}AND{3.LTE.'" & [Record ID#] & "'}AND {56.EX.'"& [Related Resource] &"'}";Min(160,Nz(SumValues(GetRecords($QONE),193)+Nz(SumValues(GetRecords($QTWO),193),0)))THE PROBLEM: When I use the Min function  it doesnt calculate against the 160 value in the formula.  If the balance is 200 hours, any subsequent line entries build off the 200 value although the table above shows 160.  Here is the table without the Min function:When I try to change the formula in the PTO in the something likeIf([PTO BALANCE]>=160,0,[Hours worked]*[PTO Rate] I get an error that I cannot write a formula for a field that is based on its

Hi, I have this formula URL where the user submits all branch. when the user clicks the button it comes the chrome prompt of Leaving the site? (Picture below) This the code i have written in the formula url field: var text markCompleted = URLRoot() & "db/" & Dbid() & "?a=API_EditRecord" & "&apptoken=" &"&rid=" & URLEncode([Record ID#]) &"&_fid_921=1" &"&rdr="&URLEncode( URLRoot() & "db/" & Dbid() & "?a=er&dfid=34&rid=" & ToText([Record ID#]) & "&page=15")$markCompletedCan someone help me fix this? **I have remove the token.

Hey Qrew!Question for your expertise.I have a request from my userbase to create a number of pipelines to help transmit a request from one app to another. The gist is, when a request in system A meets certain criteria, that request needs to be submitted in system B or C. The pipeline will take the request details from system A and distribute them to the appropriate system. The roadblock I'm facing is that I have site (name, company, address, etc) and site contact (name, email, phone, etc) data that needs to be brought over from system A into B or C, but none of the record IDs match between these systems. So if I use the pipeline and pull site record ID 10 from system A, site record ID 10 will pull something completely different in B and C. I need either a translation layer in each system, or if there is a way to universalize without ruining existent data, I would prefer that.As always, your wisdom is appreciated!

I have reached 90 Pipeline (triggers) limit for my table.I need to do more pipelines with that table, anyone has a workaround ? (I cannot turn off pipelines)Here's what I've tried so far:1- Zapier/Make : doesn't work because I cannot trigger a zap if a specific field was updated. 2- Consolidate pipelines: Doesn't work because I cannot set a condition of "what trigger caused this pipeline to fire)3- Look up field in another table and trigger the field based on that: Doesn't work, QB doesn't trigger workflows on lookup fields4-  (3) + A formula field that dynamically sets the value matching the field on the main table: Doesn't work, QB doesn't trigger workflows on formula fields

Hello,I am looking for any advice/help on QuickBase's Document Template issues I have been experiencing.  I have a word template that I have uploaded that is a single page, however it keeps spanning multiple pages when I uploaded.  Has anyone been able to adjust the spacing in Document Templates?  I can't find any way to do it, it seems to default to a double space and I want single spaces.  Has anyone been able to find a way to keep their documents templates to just a single page easily?  Thanks

Hi, does anybody happen to know if table notifications are on the roadmap for future QBL releases?I haven't had any luck finding any mention of this feature being on the horizon on the QBL documentation. By contrast, pipelines and connected tables have been mentioned in QBL release notes as being planned for future versions & even occasionally popped up with support in specific historical QBL versions.Notifications are a pretty critical workflow feature for a lot of the apps that my team manages. I know that, in the meantime, we can duplicate the notifications across our DEV/TEST/PROD apps manually, but this is one of the bigger blockers to us fully using QBL and SLM for app lifecycle management. I'm concerned that it seems they may not be on the roadmap at all yet.Thank you!

I am trying to convert a field that is not a user field to be able to read first name, middle name, last name. I have a field that reads last name, first name middle name/initial (Smith,John Q). I want a field where I can convert it to read as John Q Smith. I have found a formula that I think may work but when I try it, it just shows the original format (Smith,John Q). Is there something I need to update or another formula to use to accomplish this?

I'm building a Quickbase Pipeline that triggers on an incoming webhook request containing a JSON array. I want to loop through each record in that array and create a new entry in a Webhook table. What would be the correct JSON URL format for accessing the incoming request data via the webhook?

Good day everyone! Through some searching I did find this YAML Document creation - Save PDF to field in record | Qrew Discussions to create and email and Document Templet. Looking through the YAML, I couldn't tell if this would work with a document templet that has to also pull from specific fields in the record we want.  For instance when we finish a job, we have a button that Generates a service closing report that populates some information based off that job. The generate document button is with in the report and grabs the fields we need from there. My end goal is to automate this for my guys on the road, where clicking generate document will also:Attach the Document to the RecordEmail the generated document to a subset of people associated with the job.

Hello QB Experts,I’m a Quickbase user, and I’ve noticed that both Quickbase and Pipelines offer somewhat limited programming capabilities.I’m wondering if it’s possible to use Quickbase primarily as a database system (and visualization/application), where I:Export data using PipelinesProcess and analyze the data externally using languages like Python or JavaScript (e.g., using Pandas, NumPy, etc.) with complex programming. Then write the processed data back into Quickbase as records via Pipelines in near real-timeIf this approach is feasible:What platforms or tools would you recommend for handling the external processing? What skills or knowledge should I focus on to implement this effectively? Are there any example apps, tutorials, or Quickbase resources that demonstrate a similar workflow for learning and practice? Thanks in advance!

While using an iPhone or iPad mobile device, I'm trying to figure out how to display the filter icon on reports, but can't get it to display.   Is the option to change report filters on mobile devices still supported?See the attached screen shot for for an example of what I'm looking for.  I'm using Safari as the browser and also tried displaying the filter icon using the Quickbase mobile app. Thanks, Jim Lieder

Did QB recently (within the past few months) make any updates that would impact a user being auto-logged out due to inactivity? Admittedly this hasn't happened to me as I spend a big chunk of my day in QB, but I've had a lot of users complain that they've been getting logged out more and more often. Apparently they used to go the entire day without getting logged out (despite our realm-level policy being set at 2 hours of inactivity before triggering a log out), and now they're reporting as little as 30 minutes of inactivity before being asked to log back in again. It's a mild annoyance that's impacted a lot of my users.Something I never really noticed because I hardly go 20 minutes without using QB during work hours, but maybe our 2 hour logout policy at the realm level wasn't being enforced properly and now it sort of is?
