Gain More Control With Pipelines

Orchestrate workflows across your entire ecosystem of software tools with Quick Base Pipelines. Using our visual interface, design your processes and connect to our library of third-party integration channels.

You joined us for the webinar to learn how to take advantage of this powerful new capability. We walked through how to get setup and build your first pipelines but you might still have questions after the webinar. That is ok this is the place to let us know any other questions you might have.

You can find Adam and Brian with our team here right after the webinar wraps up to answer questions on the webinar and Pipelines in general. With the power of Pipelines at your fingertips we are sure you are going to have some questions and we honestly can't wait to hear them. Post below and let us know!

  • So a search records step is 1 step run: 100 records meet the query specifications - then the 100 runs for editing each of those records counts for 100? Also behind the scenes is quick base doing an import csv (multi-record update) to the 100 records to be modified or is it editrecord for each individually? Asking thing primarily of notifications that may trigger based on pipeline. Notifications can act very different based on single vs multi record updates

Hi Austin, that's a great question!  You are correct that the search step itself will only count as 1 step-run.  If 100 records then meet the query criteria and an action is taken for each of those records (e.g. add, update, delete), then that will count as 100 step-runs.  That means that the full Pipeline would consume 101 step-runs each time it is run.  However, if 100 records are searched and only 25 meet the criteria for the action to be taken, then that would only count as 25 step-runs.

I am excited to share that we are working on bulk record capabilities like import csv, and you can expect to hear more about that as soon as it's available.  Of course, as you mentioned, Notifications behave differently when you use a bulk action as opposed to modifying each record one at a time so you will need to configure your Pipeline accordingly.

  • It's important that everyone on my team access the same set of Pipelines, but currently it seems that I can only access Pipelines that I create.  Is it possible for multiple people to collaborate on the same (set of) Pipeline(s)?

Hi Rhett, at the moment the My Pipelines page shows just the pipelines you have created. Can you add this to our our UserVoice discussion forum? That way we can track the idea and see if this is something other customers are also running into.

        Brian -

Why would security for Pipelines even be setup in this way? If someone is being given access to Pipelines, I have to assume that they're not your standard community builder. If there is a team of people that are working on various applications within an entire ecosystem, shouldn't all of these people at least be able to see all of the Pipelines? If I'm responsible for 2-3 apps in a 10 app ecosystem, NOT being able to see all the Pipelines impacting these apps could be detrimental.

We will be continuously adding new channels to Pipelines so that you can integrate with the systems you need to run your business. If you don't see a channel for the specific solution you're interested in connecting with, please let us know by submitting your feedback to our UserVoice discussion forum, where other customers can comment on/upvote your request.

  • Question about webhooks. I was setting up a to receive a webhook as a trigger and got the trigger to work. However, it seems that there is not any way to pull any of the json information out of the body that is received from the third-party system (Basecamp in this case). For example, I want to pull the title from a Basecamp message and use it to compare against records in Quick Base, but I could not find any way to pull the title out of the JSON in the body, but it was present in the body.  Is there a way to pull the name:value pairs out of the JSON body?

Great question Brandon! You have the capability to apply regular expression on the payload you get from the Webhook with our Text channel. We are planning to implement more generic data parsers this year (JSON, XML, CSV, etc.) that will further simplify this.
