Gotcha. I think this is consistent with how differently grid edit mode behaves in general compared to a form. It clearly has a very different framework behind it, precluding many desirable form-related features. Maybe one day we'll see more form-like behaviors woven into grid edit mode, like this new picker! (fingers crossed)
