If there’s a process at Mintz that runs smoothly, chances are TammieKing had a hand in it. As a Systems Analyst and longtime Quickbase builder, Tammie has quietly transformed the way her firm works, one workflow at a time. What started as an attorney’s side project has grown into an ecosystem of more than fifty apps that power everything from ticketing and scheduling to expense tracking and workload management. But behind all that technology is Tammie’s trademark blend of curiosity, creativity, and care. Her favorite kind of challenge? The one that starts with someone saying, "That can’t be done." How It All Began Quickbase first arrived at Mintz thanks to one forward thinking attorney who had already been using it in his own practice. "It took a little while to catch on," Tammie recalls, "but once people saw how quickly we could turn ideas into working apps, it became our go to for building workflows fast." It was a perfect match for someone like Tammie: part analyst, part problem so
Hi team, I am trying to run a pipeline when user updates Field 10, Field 10 is updatedCreate an entry Clear Field 10 with {{CLEAR}} -> to blank it When I run pipeline with above logic , pipeline runs twice , it counts {{CLEAR}} as an update on field field . I tried below logicsField 10 is updated with filter {'10'.XEX.''} but pipeline runs twiceField 10 is updated with filter {'10'.WC.'*'}, but pipeline runs twiceField 10 is updated with filter {'10'.WC.'?'}, pipeline runs once but {{CLEAR}} no longer worksAny ideas
I created a Kanban board as my pipeline for new ticket request that come in when requestors need help with something. They rest of the automation works well, however for some reason I when opening a ticket and denying it, it does not move to the "Denied" stage in the pipeline, but rather it stays in the "Requests Received" stage. I would appreciate assistance resolving this. Thank you.
Is it possible to use AI to create a field "Category" based on another text field "Description." The field description is of-course is verbose and all over the place. But technically LLM should be able to create a succinct 'Category' field for me by parsing the actual topic of discussion captured in the description field. Is this possible within Quickbase?

Hey all! This is going to be a vulnerable post and I deliberated whether I'd post, but this has always been an incredibly supportive community.I am going through a challenging time in life having lost my mom a couple of months ago, and one of the most surprising ways this has affected me is -- my brain is just "off" for Quickbase.I'd been asked to head up a project cleaning up a former app developer's less-than-ideal-state work, which is something I very much would like to do; but I'm literally logging in daily and looking at my screen, with Quickbase being a small percentage of what I'm generally responsible for day-over-day, and I am just unable to get started.Has anyone experienced this? Any tips for snapping yourself back into shape? As a musician outside of work as well, I realize Quickbase is very much also a creative space, and when I think about whether you could just command yourself to write a song on demand, it feels like a similar mental lock-out where you don't have a lot o
Is there a setting I can change so that the automatically generated default form for a newly created table, in an older app, is the new style of form instead of legacy style?
I have a table with a userlist, I want to have a button that the current user viewing records can click to add themselves to a userlist field. Having trouble remembering how I have done it before.
Hello,I was wondering when a user enters demographic info (i.e., First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, etc.) on a form, is there a way to autocomplete / autopopulate a user's info? For context, this is a concern because we have staff members who often enters multiple entries for the same clients/members on QuickBase and they frequently have to reenter the same demographic info. Can non-users info be saved or accessed in an easier way? Please let me know if I need to elaborate. Thanks in advance!
Hey Philly Qrew! I’m thrilled to be facilitating our next Philadelphia Qrew Virtual Meetup, and we’re diving into a topic that’s a game-changer for anyone building in Quickbase — Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). Damon Walls, our guest speaker who also happens to be a Quickbase solutions architect, will lead us through the demonstration answering all of your questions.Whether you're just starting your journey as a citizen developer or you're a seasoned Quickbase pro, ALM is something that can seriously level up how you build, manage, and evolve your apps.💡 What is Application Lifecycle Management?Let’s break it down in simple terms:Application Lifecycle Management is all about managing the life of your Quickbase apps — from the moment you start building, through updates and changes, all the way to retirement (if that ever happens!). Think of it like taking care of a garden:You plant the seeds (build your app),You nurture it (make updates, add features),You protec
Love the latest enhancements, but one of our workflows involved quickly adding new records within the grid edit report. That does not appear to be an option anymore. Has anyone found a workaround?
Is there a way to do create a loop in Pipelines that runs a set number of times? For example, I want to run it x times based on user input: When a record is updated, it will make X copies of it based on a "clone quantity" field in the updated record. Thanks!------------------------------Matt Makris------------------------------
Hello all!I started toask this in a subsequent question yesterday (we need the Qrew posts to be editable so we can add to an original post rather than reply/have it potentially get lost!). Thanks to the legend Mark Schnier for some help on a specific formula. Now I'm trying to wrap my head around a bigger challenge. The app I'm fixing has some (what I consider) unusual reporting requirements. We have Clients, who have Cases, and our team of Users have Interactions with the Clients about the Cases.Presently, the app is structured with only two tables for those three things -- "Client/Case Files", and "Interactions". So question #1 is -- as I add in a 3rd table, I'd love any words of wisdom about correcting any legacy data into the 3-table format. Or do I just let it go and course-correct forward?Question 2 is around building logic so as we can get the nuanced reporting we need. Each Quarter, we have to report out on 1. How many total Clients were served, and 2. How many Clients were NEW t

When you talk to Mark, you can sense two things immediately: he’s been using Quickbase for a very long time and he’s still having a blast. As the founder and Principal Engineer of Your Quickbase Coach—an official Quickbase Partner—Mark has been building, tinkering, and mentoring for more than two decades. What started as a way to bring order to chaos in a family-run business has grown into a lifelong mission: helping others get “unstuck” and discover the magic of building with Quickbase. How It Began The year was 2002. Mark was Director of Operations & IT in his family’s floor-covering distribution company. With over 100 staff and a tidal wave of marketing forms and product sheets flooding inboxes, chaos reigned. “No one could find anything,” he recalls. “We had these massive black binders, and every branch was begging for the latest version of something.” Mark's cousin found Quickbase and introduced the product to Mark. The result? Mark’s first “killer app”—a searchable do
Previously when you would grid edit child records from the parent, clicking save would redirected back to the parent. With the new grid edit, it no longer redirects you back to the parent. Am I missing something?
Me again. This is the perfectionist in me. I'd love suggestions on if it's possible (and how) to write a formula that calculates a person's age based upon DOB field, converts it into a category ("0-12", "13-17", etc.), AND ALSO where that field can apply the reference date based upon a report filter. So, if in the future I need to see a report and the age needs to convert to the date where it would be in the beginning of that date range (or even more ideally, if it can reference the first date of service within the filtered time range on a connected table and apply the rule as it would have been in that time frame), that way I can always see what we would have received as a report-out at that point in time if I needed to go back and spot-check something.I know that sounds terribly convoluted. It's for grants reporting, and honestly these are some of the items that get at some of the most obnoxious calculations we're asked to report out on...... If I can't make it perfect, no bi
We are looking to use the gantt chart plug in but have the need to add a field to the tasks. We have added the field but can't add that that new field as a column in the gantt chart view. Any thoughts how to connect this field to this plugin view? Thanks
Due to a major Microsoft Azure outage that began around 11:45 AM Eastern US Time, specific Quickbase related web sites are down. This issue is not impacting the Quickbase platform. The following web sites are unavailable or have degraded performance: Fastfield - Please see the Fastfield Status Page for updates - https://fastfield.status.io/ Quickbase University Quickbase Service Page We will post updates here in Quickbase Community as we learn more from Microsoft and the partner vendors we use for Quickbase University and Quickbase Service Page. Subscribe to this post to get email updates. Update 3:48pm As of 3:35 PM Eastern US Time, we are starting to see slow recovery of our impacted web sites. Some customers are able to intermittently access Fastfield, Quickbase University, and Quickbase Service Page. Microsoft reports that full recovery could take as much as 4 more hours. We are continuing to monitor the sites and will update this post as we see signi
I have a form where a requester enters the information in a form using steps. After submission an approver will approve the request in the same form (pipelines are used to push the approval info to the approval table). I don't want the approvers to see the steps when they edit the form. Is there a way to changed the view from steps to tabs in edit mode based on role?
A few months back, I wrote about the OpenAI channel in Pipelines and the benefit it could have to expand on the use cases that can be solved with Quickbase. Now, I'm writing again, but for something even more exciting - AI Actions. With this new channel, you will be able to safely and securely connect with an AI provided by Quickbase and send any information (yes, including files) along with instructions for the AI to perform. No API keys and no AI model training. AI Actions allows Quickbase builders to automate complex text and data tasks — from summarizing emails to analyzing uploaded files — without leaving Pipelines. What is AI Actions? To put it simply, a new pipelines channel, but able to solve countless problems. The channel has a single step called "Custom Action" and it allows the builder to pass any information and instructions to the AI and request from the AI to return its answer in a structed manner, so it can easily be referenced in following steps. Step parameters: Resp
Hi everyone!I recently finished my Quickbase certifications. How do I go about getting those connected with my profile here? Thanks!
I wanted to make a line graph of a certain data point, say stock price - over the past 5 years. Plotting days across the X axis, I get an error saying "more than 1000 categories, cant plot" Anyone ran into this before?

My app has a button that redirects to a documents table, but I need that to be opened in edit mode. If I use the button, it automatically switches back to view mode. If I choose edit mode from the documents table it refreshes me to the top of the form. There is a checkbox I want people to use next to the documents table, but the only way they can get it to work is if they tab over 10 tabs to the documents table - making the button that takes them there immediately useless if they need to use the checkbox. The button uses a formula to make it work: "https://thefamilyplace.quickbase.com/nav/app/buf7b3sig/table/buf7b5kxp/action/dr?rid="& URLEncode( [Record ID#])&"&rl=dvb&page=21" how do I adjust this so it opens in edit mode? Thank you for your help!
