stripping hidden characters from text strings to enable field equality
I am using a staging table to compare a .CSV import to a bunch of live data. I have maybe 50 fields to compare and I am trying to check a few thousand records regularly and just flag the fields that have changed. This is typically pretty straightforward as they are text fields and using a List function and a bunch of if statements, I can easily display the field names when Live Field A <> Import Field A. My issue is lots of text fields are appearing as not equal, though they look the same when displaying them. I have used the tricks I know to tidy up hidden characters... var text A = SearchAndReplace([Live Field A],"\n"," "); var text C = SearchAndReplace($B,"<br>"," "); Trim(Upper($B)) This removes next line and carriage returns and makes all uppercase and trims extra spaces. I apply this to both fields, they have the same length of characters, look identical, even copy/pasting them to Notepad++ and turning on hidden characters they look the same but according to QB they are not equal. I have one more question path of enquiry... I have tried swapping between Text and Rich Text. The <br> I think works in Rich Text but \r in text gets converted when I save to something else, perhaps that is the issue? Any text gurus out there? Ideas or assistance would be appreciated... How To remove carriage return from Multi-Line text field
Hello, I have searched for this subject and found 1 post with 0 responses. I'm pulling in info from QB using Power Query, a Multi-line text field is not pulling at all when there are multiple lines created using a carriage return / line feed. Is there a function similar to CLEAN (instead of TRIM)? or how can I replace the non visible carriage return using another text formula field (without taking the table down clean it and re-uploading) thanks, ------------------------------ Ayman Hanash ------------------------------
How to find no of Sundays in a Month
Hi, I want to find the count of how many Sundays are there in a month basis on which i would like to find out No of Days in a month - No of Sundays. I have created a daily data entry form in which the user will enter the date. I would like to find out how many sundays will occur in that given month for which the date is entered. For Example if the user enters the date as 15.03.2020 then March 2020 has 31 days and 5 Sundays so 31-5=26 should be my end result. Is there a way thru which the same can be achieved? Create a button that gets the UserID for the user in a user field and then write that information to a field in the same record
Hello Quick Base Community. I am wanting to get the UserID for a user with the click of a button. Using the API_GetUserInfo, I can pull the UserID, copy it and then paste it somewhere, but what I would like to do is click a button that will get the UserID and then write it to a field in the record that I am on. Really the question is, is it possible to call an api and then perform an action using data that is returned from the initial api call? I assume that this wouldn't be a problem using scripting but I would like to know if it is possible natively within Quick Base. Thanks!
distance between two addresses

Routing User to Different Form Based on Field Value
Hello, I have a process where users view a case file and work the file. We have grown so now we have several different types of case file and need to use a different form for each file type. I can imagine several ways to do this, but none are clean. Below is a list of what we tried. We tried using an iframe that linked to a formula url field, this worked except is displays the QB header twice and limits the screen size (iframes are apparently not responsive in QB). We tried using one "mega-form" with conditionals, but we hit the embedded report limit and certain fields need to be on multiple forms which QB disallows. We tried creating a different table for each file type but that breaks QB search widget (search widget can only search 1 table at a time). The best solution we found was to create a rich text field that displayed a link to the various case type forms, but then we lose the functionality of the edit and view buttons that display on every report and the search widget. Are there any other solutions to this issue? Edit: The real issue seems to be QB does not support building code at the routing stage of the application. I have read every single post on this board regarding this subject, and have tried every suggestion and nothing is working. Please help! I'm trying to take a user input Multi-Line Text field and convert it into a Rich Text field. When converting it directly to RT, it takes out line breaks. When I do SearchAndReplace, nothing: SearchAndReplace([Schedule],"\n","<br>") I've tried the following codes for line breaks / carriage returns, and none of them have worked: \n \r \\ \\n \\r <br> <cr> <enter> <return> <crlf> <nl> <newline> &nsbp; ↵ I even set up a debug field to display "this one" if the [Schedule] field contained any of the code/characters above.
