Where and how do I make the mobile form display only the fields the browser based form shows? I didn't anticipate this.
What do you mean? Are you trying to make them show the same fields? You can set the mobile form to be the same form as desktop in order to keep the fields consistent.
Yes, that's exactly what I would meant and would like to do. I can't see where to do that?
The most common place will be in the table settings under the 'Forms' section. You can dictate the add/edit/view behavior for forms in Desktop then you can set an alternate form for Mobile
See the last column in the above screenshot as an example where the mobile setting has been overridden to be a mobile specific form in my case.
Does that mean you had to create a mobile form and then designate it in the table? I was hoping the main form I created would display correctly without having to manage it separately.
No - if you leave it as the option for 'Use Full Site Form' and it will just default to your default form specified for desktop. Keep in mind that certain elements will look and behave differently in mobile given general usability - but for the most part new tables or apps will default the mobile experience to the default form and then you can override that when you're ready to focus on the mobile flow.
When you were using legacy, (old forms), then you can use the same form for mobile and it will just list the fields vertically.
i'm pretty sure that if you are using new style forms, then they will not work on mobile yet. Quickbase is hard at work to make mobile forms use the new style form and when they get that working, it is expected to be wonderful. It will have responsive design, which means the form will use the available screen space on the mobile device according to the size of the device.
But that feature is not expected until about the third-quarter of 2024.
so unless anybody else on the form wants to correct me on this, I think for now to use a mobile view of Forums you need to make a form and you may as well just list the fields vertically because they're going to run vertically anyways.
Oh no! I just started, so I have never seen the legacy forms, since the new form is the default on my eval realm. This is HUGE for me, since the first application I am trying to port is Customer Sat Surveys and that HAS to work via Mobile. Yikes.
I use mobile a lot. I would use legacy forms until QB finishes up their mobile side of the new forms. ALso, be ready for a lot of bugs on the mobile side, even on legacy.
