  • 1.  Report Formula to filter Fields on most recent information.

    Posted 20 days ago
    Hello,

    I have a request from a team looking to take a notes field and have it only display the most recent update. They want to be able to still edit this field within the table and not go into the form or another table to make changes. Truly a one stop shop for processes.

    The field is currently logging edits. I thought this formula would work within the report:
    var text LogField = [Notes];

    If(Trim($logField)<>"",
    "[" & Left(NotLeft($LogField,"["),"["))

    I am having no luck with it filtering down to only the most recent. Is there any formula that could do this and still allow for them to edit the field?

    Are the newest updates being logged at the top or the bottom of the logging field?

    They are being logged at the top currently.

    My cheat notes say that this crazy formula works

    Trim(Right(Part(NotLeft([append at top],1),1, "["),"]"))

    I attached a snip of how it looks on my end. When I put it into the report formula, I get the following error. Not sure what I am missing.

    You need to replace the [append at top] with your own field name.  :)

    Might be time for another cup of coffee!

    I made that change, but it still didn't work. Could it be something wrong with the field? it is a Text-multi-line with the log edits field selected. Only logging Name and date.

    I changed the field to a rich text with no luck either.

    It worked for me.  I just retested it.  Can you post a shot of the append only field with logging at the top and result of the formula field?
