    What would cause a user field not to be updated?

    I have a checkbox, user and date field.  I have a form rule that when the checkbox is checked to update the user to the current user and the date to the current date.

    The date updates but the user field will not.  Here is the rule.

    Try unchecking that box at he bottom so that the rule fires all the time.

    Well, I don't want it to change just because a person is in the record.  I only want it to change when the checkbox is goes from not checked to checked.

    I did uncheck just to check and it is still not updating.  The field is just a user field.

    What is the field type you are trying to update?  Is it from a relationship?

    No, it is just a user field.  No relations.

    "grasping at straws' here.  Do you have any pink warnings in your form rules that indicate you might have a conflicting form rule? 

    The only other idea I have before having to resort to contacting customer care team is to create a field called
    [current user]

    where the formula is

    User()

    And have the form rule change that field to the value in the field [current user]

    I can't see anything wrong with the way you're doing it but sometimes doing it a different way works for no explicable reason.

    I figured it out.  I did not have my name showing in the user list and so it wouldn't update for me.  When I added my name back, it worked fine.

    For clarification for anyone reading this thread: For users to be selectable in a User-field (or have rules populate the current user value into a user field); the checkbox [Show in User Pickers] must be checked in the USERS area of the Application.
