What happens to file attachments with the record is deleted?

Hi

Is there somewhere I can see all the attached files (pictures or documents uploaded to a record) in QB?  What happens to the attached files when I delete the record it's related to?

We have contacts in our database and can add a picture of the person which shows as a thumbnail on the record.  As contacts may later leave a company, they get deleted from the database.  What happens to the image file that was attached to the record?  Is it still stored in QB somewhere? If so, how can I find and delete it too?
