Approval Workflow that triggers automatic emails

I was trying to create a workflow of approvals that would automatically send an email to the next step person once the previous person has signed off his/her approval.
I came across this thread but I don't seem to find the reference or the underlying code they use to have Quickbase send the email.
I also found references  the Magic Buttons app where they have a sample but that specific part seems broken after the 2019 ritlch text field update.
