Automatic Time/Date Stamp upon Saving a Record

We have several agents who regularly contact landowners on a daily basis, then they enter these contacts into our db for a permanent record.  I'd like to know if there is an automatic date/time stamp feature that would help us track when each contact is logged into the db. (The agents utilizes a date field for the record entry as to when the actual contact was made, but we're looking for an automatic date/time feature for when the contact is logged into the database without adding any extra buttons, boxes etc.)  We need for this time/date stamp to be in reports.
