Change the orientation of Pictures uploaded

We are going to be using the IPad app for field work and pictures are taken in portrait mode, and when shown on a form on the desktop, they are shown in landscape mode. Is there a way to make the pictures always show in portrait mode?

Note:
I am using a file attachment field for the picture upload in the add/edit mode and then a rich text formula field for view mode so that I can change the file size in view mode.
