I have a table with the names of employees and the date their performance appraisal is due. Since they're due annually, I'd like the date to read just the month and day. Is this possible? And then create a notification the day they're due.

Thanks Mark! You're always so helpful! The first part worked like a champ but the portion where I create the report doesn't recognize "due date" as a date b/c it's a text formula field now. Am I understanding that right?

For the report filters you would use the real date field but in the fields or columns on the report you would use your abbreviated text field.

copy that. Will it matter that the year is in the old due date column? I'm only asking because they're the employee's hire date. (performance appraisals are done yearly based on their hire date)

Ok, now I understand your question. I will post back when I get a chance. I misunderstood your question and thought that you just wanted a cosmetic formatting change to a date field.

Are these Supervisors Users in the app? Do they have Quick Base Userids? That was what I meant by their userid.

no they are not. We use the app mainly for tracking their [Supervisor's] performance.

If you want to notify non users, then you can set up an Open Type Notification. A Notification of type Open can go to any email address even if they are not a user.

Notifications will only fire when a record is modified and saved, not via the simply passage of time to a new day.

So the typical solution is to have a Key user like yourself receive a daily report of Notifications due to be fired. Then we can make a formula URL button to sort of tickle the record to get it to fire a Notification and refresh the report with one less record on it, as the Notification was just fired. Then you click again and again until all the records are gone off the report.

  btw, when you set up an open email notification, the emails can go to any number of email addresses. I like to list them vertically in the box like this
