Do formulas always run?

Question

I have a formula that runs based on what date it is. Will that formula fire as soon as the date hits, or only if I open the record on edit mode?

Can it trigger an automation to fire?i.e. I'm in bed sleeping. Date changes. One field changes dates based on a formula. Automation fires.&nbsp;Does it work like that? Can i use my trigger being a field is modified, or is it not really being modified if not in edit mode?------------------------------Mike Tamoush------------------------------

No, you cannot trigger an Automation to run based on a formula field changing.
Automations run when a record is Added, edited or deleted or else they run overnight on a schedule.
