So, to be real, I did not try the milestones one yet, because I cannot get one of these to actually work. I did get this "No Project records found" when I know that there are indeed many records that should populate. I will keep tinkering and hopefully figure it out. If you have other suggestions I am def open to them. Thanks for all of your help!

I grabbed the Project ID from both and it tells me there's no records found:

Something looks confused here.
The Report Link should be built on the request table. The left side would have the Project ID field and the right side would be a field off the projects table. You have the right side being a field off the Requests table, but you want to list matching Projects, not matching Requests. Having said that the way you have it configured should have generated some results (off the wrong table).
Also make sure the report you are using for the embedded table is either the record picker report or some report that has no filters on it.

------------------------------ok, so they need to be the same field, pulling from 2 different places correct? I am trying to rewind to see where I must have done something wrong, I have the correct columns showing, it's just not showing any projects, so I am doing something wrong obviously.
