Exporting to CSV questions

Is it possible to export a numeric field to a CSV, and have it show the numbers with a negative sign, instead of with parentheses?

The only way I can think to do it is to use a formula text field (ToText([Amount]), and export that to the CSV. Works like a charm, except then in the report, it doesn't total that row because of course, it's text.

Any ideas to show a report with totals, but on export to csv, use a text version of the numeric field?

    That should be a setting in the program you're using to open the CSV. I downloaded a test file a moment ago and opened it in Excel to see this:
