Formula field to Convert a Muti-Select Text field to a User List field

Question

I have a list of names in a Multi-Select Text field that I would like to convert to a User-List. Is there a formula that will do this for me? If not any other ideas?

Do you have access to a list of emails as opposed to names? You cannot get to a userid from just a name. If not you would need to make a table of names and then enter their email addresses or userid, to make the translation via getting the email / userid from a lookup.

if you make a formula field on the child table for the text value of the userid (or email) like this
ToText([My userid field])

Then you can roll that up to a combined text summary field and then convert it to a formula List User field.
