5 years agoWhen you say that your tables are "Related" do you mean that there is a Quickbase relationship between the tables.
Also can you take a step back and explain the business purpose of what you are trying to do. It would help us suggest a structure for their tables and their relationships.

Hi Mark
Yes there is a QuickBase relationship between the tables.
The business purpose is that the value entered into the related tables may be different, but it could be the same. So, I don't want people to have to replicate the data if it's the same. I want them to indicate if the value is the same in both tables, and for the form for the second table to display the value from the first.
Thanks

Can you tell me the name of the two tables and explain which is the Parent and which is the Child?

The parent table is called 'Dataset' and the child is called 'Report'
The text field in Dataset is called 'Range Covered'
In Report (relates to a report connected to the Dataset using Power BI) there is the same question. I have a checkbox next to the question which says 'Same as Dataset'.
I have managed to get the question to disappear in the Report Table when this checkbox is selected, but I can't get the value from the Dataset table to pull through.

OK, so I think that you are saying that One Dataset has many Reports. That is how we talk about Relationships in Quickbase.
If you look at a dataset record, do you have an embedded child table there for Reports?
Conversely, if you look at any Reports record is the field for Related Dataset populated? ie, just because you make a relationship, the parents and children don't automatically know how to attach to each other, unless they are done by manual data entry or if the child record has a formula to calculate the key field of the parent.
