Hide fields not used in table view

I have a table with many fields so it is very wide. Most of the time not all of the fields are used in every record. I would like to automatically hide fields that are not used by any record so it is always as condensed as possible. Is there a way to do that?

I'm not aware of an automatic way to hide fields unused in any record - but you can likely remove a big chunk of them from your reports by making the field non-reportable so that they can never appear in your reporting. By un-checking 'This Field May be used in reports' they won't appear as possible columns
