How can I show the result of a report formula in a temporary column on a report?

We have many fields in a particular table that are not useful except in the context of a single report, only really make sense for records that satisfy particular filters, etc.

It would be preferable to remove each of these fields and instead only calculate them in the context of a particular report, i.e. as an additional column in a table report. The values of interest are easily calculated using the report formula function, but we cannot seem to find a way to simple display the result each report formula calculation alongside the rest of the data of interest.

Please help!
  • The result of the calculated column will appear like a normal field in the 'columns' list. Usually it appears at the end though, out of alphabetical order. So when you save your calculated column, usually the last item in the actual 'columns' listing will be your new formula/column.

  • When building a report, there are now 3 custom-formula fields you can create and use in your report.

When you choose to display Custom Columns, a new section (previously a single checkbox and a formula field) now displays titled Report Formulas.  Use this section to add up to 3 custom formulas to display on your report and make calculations on data in those report records.

Note, when you add these formula fields; you cannot instantly add them to your column list or filters; but you can once you first display, then customize your report again.

Here's the Quick Base release notes info on them: https://help.quickbase.com/release-notes/february-2019-release-notes.html#report_formulas

It should be noted that in my test of this for your post I am having formula-text and formula-numeric fields fail to display in my column list.  I have found some "buggy" behaviors which I have reported to Quick Base to review.  When I deleted my two formulas and re-built them and the fields then displayed in the Columns to Display list.  If it doesn't work, try to build them again; and like Chayce said - they should appear at the bottom of the columns-to-display list; even if they are not showing up in your search.
