How to break up address field into sub fields in ch

I have an address field that is passed from parent to child. Once the lookup field is an "Address" type, I am having trouble figuring out how to break it into the component sub fields? It seems like the Field IDs are located on the original Field Settings page on the table where the address field was originally created, but I don't see how that sub-field-information moves as the record is passed to child records?
