How to display key field ID on form during record creation

Hi folks!

We are creating a form that we need some kind of field displaying that the submitter can paste back into somewhere else to validate that they made an entry - the simplest thing seems to be the record ID generated by Quickbase, but I can't figure out how to get this number to display on the form before it's saved. Is it not possible? Is there a way to show the user the record ID for their submission after submitting?

  • The Quick Base Record ID# is an essentially infinite number wheel and its first come first served in saving as to who gets the next number.

One technique can be a two step record creation process.  A user could for example click a button to create an empty record and land on the blank record , but it will have a Record ID# immediately available to say immediately quote to a customer on the phone.

Then the user would edit the record to actually fill out the form.  If it turns out that the record is not needed, well then it can just be deleted or even auto deleted by an overnight scheduled automation to delete empty records.  All that is "lost" is that the Record ID# is now "burned", but there are plenty more available where they came from.
