How to edit a field in form view that is hidden by a Dynamic Form Rule?

I have a field that is hidden in my form view by a Dynamic Form Rule. The rule states that if the field is blank to hide it. However, when I enter edit mode from the Form I still can't see the field...

I suggest making a formula mirror field equal to the data entry field. Have the form rule only act on the formula field and show the data entry field in Edit and add mode but not view mode.

Th mirror field will only show in View mode.
