How to restore a record from another related table

Sorry, a bad choice of words.  I was trying to describe that I have used the Actions feature to create an action that copies the user variables to the other table when the total value changes (i.e. if anything changes the price, capture the previous settings).  I can't accomplish the write back to the master record.  Any method would be great, a button being among them.  I have a checkbox field to select the record to be written back.
