Importing

I am trying to import an excel spreadsheet that lists all of my inventory. The problem is that when I exported it from my current inventory program, all I got was a summary of each item, instead of a new line for each item. Is there a way for QuickBase to see that a quantity is more than one and create that many records? The import below would result in only 2 new records, but I would need 103 records.

  • Katlyn,
Is this a one time import to transition from an old system to a new system?  How many Inventory Master SKUs do you have to import?

I would like for it to be a one time import, but we're still in the testing stage, so I know that's not possible right now. and roughly 100 I think.

  • What application are you running for your current inventory?

      We're using WASP right now.

I could work with you in a one one one Go To Meeting session to build a way to import your 100 records and then push a button on each of the 100 records to create the correct number of children.  Contact me by email if you have a small budget to handle that.  It will take about an hour or at most two hours to get working.

I can explain my approach here if that is helpful, but I'm not sure that you have the experience with API formula buttons or Automations to be able to build this. Have you used either of those much?
