Lookup Value not Changing in Grid Edit

Anyone else experiencing lookup values not changing in grid edit?

There is a relationship where the related record has a lookup field for supervisor name. When the lookup is used in grid edit it is a dropdown menu. When it is used to change to another supervisor, the name doesn't change until the grid edit is saved. It is deceptive because you can't tell what has been changed until you save the grid edit.
