New Grid Edit Reports

Good afternoon everyone!

I couldn't find anything on this, but is there a way to embed a Grid Edit Report from one table into the form of another table?

I go to add a report into the Form of Table B, but it doesn't show up as an option. I can't remember from its release if they said this was a feature or slated to be a feature.

  • I think there is some confusion here.

You do not want to make a grid edit report. If you enabled your whole application to use the new Grid Reports, which is a setting in App Properties,

    Enable report version (Beta)

Use new grid reports in this app (learn more):

Then you put a regular table report on the form and then set the side panel to allow editing. Then the embedded report becomes edible in when the form is in edit mode.  I actually thought that the embedded report was supposed to be editable even in view mode, but in my testing, it doesn't seem to behave that way yet.

  • This should be totally routine.  On New Style forms, you should be able to select a Report Element and then on the right side slide out panel, you can select the table and then the report from that table.

Then typically you select a report link field to filter the report so it only shows records relevant to the parent. But there are some less usual circumstances where you may want an embedded report, not filtered by a report link field.

  • I'm following!

Mark, you won't believe this! I thought the making of the Grid Edit Report meant I had it enabled app wide.

After your clarification, I went deep diving and saw I had it set to "On Quickbase rollout"

As always, you are a life saver!

  • Do I possibly have a setting somewhere messed up?

    What I've done

    Grid Edit Reports are enabled
Went into Job Schedule Table and created a Grid Edit Report
Went to the Jobs table -> Forms -> Click Add Here -> Report -> Job Schedules -> But I only see the regular Table Reports
