Hi John,
Unfortunately that is a very old link that lead to the Forums we had when we were still part of Intuit that have been retired. I believe though that is was directing to this conversation:

Thanks, Evan. Before I go down this rabbit hole, by chance in the time that has elapsed since the original post, do you know if a simpler solution come to light? I just want a bar chart with the x axis dates grouped by week to display zero rather than skipping the week if there are no matching records.

As of right now that would still be the case for sorting and grouping on a report. The reporting pulls from the existing records to set up the groups and doesn't pull a week in this case that has no records. So for example if you didn't have records for the month of May this year a report for the year by week would be missing all of May. The reporting is just optimized for data points with records.

You might be able to get a chart working by loading up a table of Sunday's say for the next 20 years of weeks, so a thousand records.
Then summarize your real data into the weekly buckets.
I know that means you won't be able to have dynamic filters but maybe you can have a series of charts that still basically give you the charts you need.
