Record limit when searching table

On any given table, when searching for records by separating values with " OR ", I'm hitting a limit of 50 results. I cannot find anything in personal settings or admin settings that addresses this limitation. I also don't see any discussions or references to this in documentation. My org does have a developer that seems to not have the limitation, but neither of us is able to identify any applicable role permissions or settings that could be causing the issue. 

Has anyone experienced this?

     I am not seeing any limit on filtering results in a table report. You said searching, but in my case, I'm interpreting what you mean to mean the filter box at the top of our report?  But then I tried using the magnifying glass search at the top of the screen and got thousands of hits. So not a limit of 50.

      I appreciate the reply, Mark. Your interpretation is correct - the search box at the top of the report next to the column filters. We're somehow getting locked to 50 results. There has to be some sort of setting in our environment we're not seeing. 

      If I try this type of query in the search box at the top of the screen (searching the app), we get an error message indicating that we need to use the performance analyzer to optimize the search.

        I guess you need to put in a support ticket because I've never seen that behavior. If they tell you something interesting please post back here.
