The best security is to restrict certain Roles from seeing certain record. ie, not just hiding tables, but actually setting their Role permission to not be able to view those records.
However, I also do recognize that you may need to have front line staff see the detail, say sales, but you don't want them to see the pretty charts or summary reports which show the trends in sales with aggregated data.
