Row colorization, or How can I trick my colleagues into thinking I'm a visual designer?
If you're anything like me, you colorize rows on your reports so users get an at-a-glance understanding of the data. But isn't it hard to choose which colors to use? In general, lighter colors are easier on the eyes when coloring Quick Base reports, but it can be hard to figure out a good-looking color palette.
A color wheel is a visual guide to relationships between different colors, with opposite hues (from a Red-Yellow-Blue or Red-Green-Blue perspective). Sessions College for Professional Design has published a free online tool to let anyone easily create a palette of 2, 3, or 4 complementary colors. You choose a color by clicking on the wheel, and then pick a "harmony" to select how similar each color should be to the others. Then you can click one of the circles on the wheel to adjust to your liking. I hope this helps you more easily create a nice-looking and colorful report!
