Searchable lookup field

Is there a way to make a lookup field searchable without the extra window showing up when you click "browse choices"? Meaning, can you start typing in this field and the results of the lookup field will narrow down and you can select it without having to click "browse choices"?

    Or could you have a search text field that will lookup the value you typed into the text field and look it up with records in another table?

    This is not a native function that they have.  You can accomplish this with some scripting if desired.

    Creating a search box with javascript is very unfamiliar to me. Do you have some sudocode that I could work off of?
