Searching on formatted phone number = no records found :-(

I recently received this question on one of my Quick Base Junkie YouTube videos... "I'm using QB and for some reason when I search the database by phone I keep having to take out the dash & parenth...

Thanks for the reply.

I try searching both (800) 555-1212 and 8005551212 and neither produces a result.

phone numbers do not default to being searchable.  Look for this setting in field properties
Searchableble
Include this field when searching/filtering this table

      I had the same trouble, however I didn't realize phone numbers were not defaulted to searchable. When I changed that, I can confirm that I am able to search. However, I do have to search the numbers only (meaning, adding a parentheses or hyphens yield no results).

      It is curious that you still cannot search....

        Mike is correct.  The phone numbers display with the ( brackets) and the dash, but the data is stored as pure numeric with no spaces so that is how you search.  It would however be possible to construct a formula field and have it be a search target on a report where the brackets and dashes were re-introduced.
