Using report link record as multiple choice option in text field

I have a report link field in one of my forms. Is there a way to have a multiple choice text field that will show the list of records that is in the report link? I want to be able to select one of the records in the report link field from the text field. In other words, is this similar to a conditional drop down field and should I be going that route?
