I am an admin. I know I saw somewhere a dropdown that offered the ability to 'view as a user'. Did I imagine that or does it exist?

Well, you do with your fashioned way.
Create a second user ID and open up a different type of browser [for example if you normally use Chrome then open up Firefox] and then do your testing that way.
