In the top right corner of Quick Base, assuming it is turned on for your role(Favorites & Recents under role permissions), there is a little star icon that you can keep a list of favorite reports in on a per app basis.

The Use Case goes like this:
User A has a report and shares it with User B. User B doesn't know about or want to search "Reports & Charts" because clicks and therefore "Favorites" it.
In my Experience to date, a lot of Users do not identify/see/recognize the "Reports & Charts" expando-triangle as a function. They do see/identify/recognize the big Star in the top right. It fascinates me that different Users will see different items on the same page but that's what I love the most about UI/UX design!

The most useful part of the star is to train users that you can instantly see the last 10 records you have touched or viewed and the last 10 report you have run. Just like Excel you don't create a new spreadsheet every time you open up Excel you keep re-touching the same old spreadsheet over and over. Similar with QuickBase you tend to keep re-touching the same reports and especially the same records over and over so, that Star takes you right there.

Oh that has nothing to do with the mysterious flag for new and change records. It is simply the last 10 records you have viewed in the last 10 reports you have run.
