The Javascript command works for select controls where you've provided a list of data, not where it is derived or driven by a table. In this first screenshot, the "Deal Number" is actually a key field from the parent table and used to tie the parent-child together. The "Tolerance Option" field is a selection list where I've provided values of: None, Buyer, Seller. Here's the JavaScript command at work in the Console: Here's the result. You can see it adjusted the width of the "Tolerance Option" field, but not the "Deal Number". ------------------------------ Lien Gilhooley ------------------------------ Re: can I adjust the width of a field with multiple choice text items? This posting from Dan is from 2013. Has anyone gotten this formula to work with the 2020 UI? ------------------------------ Lien Gilhooley ------------------------------ Toggle the "Read-only" form element attributeI have a key field that ties my child record to my parent record. The key field of the child record has the "read-only" form attribute as shown here: When a user creates a child record from within the parent record, there are no issues as the key field in the child record gets automatically populated with the parent key data and the child key field is locked so the user can't inadvertently change it. The issue is when the user creates the child record without being inside the parent record already. In this case, the child key field is blank/null and the field is "read-only". I would like to toggle the "read-only" attribute off at this point so the user can select the parent record in which to tie to the child record. Is this possible? ------------------------------ Lien Gilhooley ------------------------------ Toggle the "Read-only" form element attributeI have a key field that ties my child record to my parent record. However, if my data value if < 10,000, this function leaves out the comma. For example: ToFormattedText(10000, "comma_dot") == 10,000 ToFormattedText(9000, "comma_dot") == 9000 Has anyone else experienced this? ------------------------------ Lien Gilhooley ------------------------------ Re: Blur event no longer fires now that the select field is a type-ahead-search pickerThat little trick worked - thank you!Re: Blur event no longer fires now that the select field is a type-ahead-search pickerFire when which field is blank? Just want to make sure I understand...Re: Blur event no longer fires now that the select field is a type-ahead-search pickerWhat I am trying to accomplish is to default multiple field values based on the change of one or two other fields. I realize this can somewhat be done by the dynamic rules, but it doesn't work exactly that way I need it to work. For example, if field _fid_93 = "ABC" then default _fid_94 = "DEF", _fid_95 = "GHI" The form rules can make this happen easily. The problem comes when the user wants to change the value of _fid_95 from "GHI" to "XYZ" because it's a special case or exception to the rule. Even though I have the "fire when" checkbox unselected, the user cannot change the value of _fid_95. How do I achieve what I'm describing above using form rules?Blur event no longer fires now that the select field is a type-ahead-search pickerI had a good amount of custom code that used to fire on a blur event of the old drop-down controls that no longer work since QBase implemented the type-ahead-search pickers. My existing code: // ============ // takes the default product specs and populates the // input product specs field, allowing the user to modify the value, if needed // fid_93 = chosen product // ============ $("#_fid_93").blur(function() { var DefProductSpecs = $("#tdf_67").text(); $("#_fid_165").next("div[contenteditable]").html(DefProductSpecs); }); /* $("#_fid_93").blur(function() */ Even though the form UI says the Chosen Product field has an ID = 93, the field ID and name and ID in code is no longer "_fid_93" from what I can see using the debugger console/inspector. What events are available for these new type-ahead-search pickers? OnChange? OnBlur? Re: Exact Form Option Using Application TokensThe fact that Quickbasemakes you choose between securing your application/data and the ability to use the Exact Form is a huge defect. They should spell this out clearly when they tout the features of Quickbaseand its Exact Form.
