Wondering though if when clicking on the various "Go Buttons" do the "tab" forms appear on the same page/screen or does a new one open? If a new one opens how do you re-direct the user back to the main form? Thanks Ember D. Re: Default report link in table view Fabulous! I will give this a try and post back with any issues. THANK YOU! Ember D. Krumwied, CRM, CIGO Corporate Records Manager and Paralegal Investco T: 253-447-3047 Re: Default report link in table view Thank you for this...will this solution force the user to have to select or enter an Entity Name in order to view the report or will it pickup that information depending on the specific parent record the link was accessed from? Meaning, if from the parent report view for Entity ABC Company there was this new "ask the user" report link and it is selected would the user be asked to enter the name ABC Company or would the link know that they wanted the report for ABC Company (because that was the parent record they selected the link from). Make sense? Ember D. Re: Default report link in table view I am using the link on a report. I do know how to display the report results directly into a form, but in this case the users are seeing a summary of items in a parent table (report view) that includes a link to open the associated children records. I am just seeking to the ability to standardize the user experience and notice that it is different for 1 child record vs. multiple children records. Ember D. Re: Table header information Screenshots... Parent Table... When you click on one of the links you are taken to the report/form for the related child records. The header of the report/form displays the Record ID# of the parent (the field that connects the two tables) instead of the proxy field I have set or the value set in as the Record Title. When a user access content via this link, displaying (in this case the #4) the record id doesn't mean anything to them, it should display the Entity Name. Ember D. Re: Report filter not showing as a pulldown listThat is probably where I will have to go. We are moving from an in-house system and I've been trying to recreate the same functionality (wherever possible) to help ease user adaption. Thanks for all the suggestions. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. ------------------------------ Ember Krumwied ------------------------------ Re: Report filter not showing as a pulldown listThat is what I have. I have many tables (all holding only unique information). Just to list a few: Entities (main table) Partners (main table) Formations (linked to Entities on Entities key field EntityName) Partner Interest (linked to Entities on Entities key field EntityName; also linked to Partners on key field PartnerName) Transfers (linked to Entities on Entities key field EntityName) For my Entities table I was trying to create a form that would allow a user to use a pull down menu list and select a SINGLE Entity record to view. The Entities table contains over 300 rows of records, with no Entity duplicated. The EntityName field is a text field so that a user can enter in a new record. When I use EntityName as a filter on a report and select the option to ask the user what is displayed is a text box that the user must actually type in characters in order to filter the list. What I was hoping to be able to create was to present the user with a pull down list whereby they can SELECT a specific entity to view. I am finding that pull down lists are limited to show only 100 options so this wouldn't work for me. I'm currently investigating other filtering options to help my user jump to a specific entity without having to scroll down the list or advance to an additional page just to find the one entity they need to work with. ------------------------------ Ember Krumwied ------------------------------ Re: Report filter not showing as a pulldown listThank you Blake, the Company is a separate table, its just that the table holds over 300 companies. ------------------------------ Ember Krumwied ------------------------------ Re: Report filter not showing as a pulldown listIt is just a text field. I have since learned, from a different source, that what I am hoping to accomplish can not be done. This is a text field and even though it is set to be unique, the table holds over 300 entries. Pull down lists are limited to 100 entries, and that's even if the field could be converted to a pull down option. Seeking other solutions to achieve similar result. ------------------------------ Ember Krumwied ------------------------------ Report filter not showing as a pulldown listNew to Quickbase...I am trying to create a simple report that prompts the user for a entry name. I have set that field to be the filter and set it to <ask the user>. When I run the report all I get is a text box for that field. What I'd like it to be is a selection list of all available options as shown in the following help entry. Create a Report that Prompts Users for Selection Criteria Quickbase remove preview Create a Report that Prompts Users for Selection Criteria You may not always know what records your users want to see. You can create a report that prompts users to enter selection criteria for one or more fields. After a user selects the report, Quickbase presents a dialog box like the one shown below. View this on Quickbase > In the example, Company appears as a pulldown menu. I have a similar field that I would like displayed this way. Any help on what I'm missing would be appreciated.
