New Pipeline Run Preview Feature (July 2026)
Hey there Boston Qrew! Great meeting on Wednesday...and yes, before I say anything else, I'll say...can't wait for Tammie King's scavenger hunt in September! :) One of my takeaways from our run through this month's release notes thanks to Tyler Brezler was the curiousity & contemplation around the new pipeline run preview feature released on 7/14/26. I conferred with the Product Manager overseeing this and he shared: The feature does not incur any Reads, it just combines the activities of an entire pipeline run into a single view The idea is that the current Activity Log does not provide a user-friendly view of the run, just a table, so that's the gap we tried to cover. It also shows the path of the pipeline execution in a pipeline run. And that's the value prop really - having a user-friendly preview of a specific run on top of the activity log. We are aware of an issue with browser cookies preventing the preview from loading, so clearing those should fix the issue if you're running into any errors. Since it's release, there hasn't been any further informational assets prepared from a product enablement perspective, so simply dive in and try it out if you're curious! Hey @Jeff Sykier -- Admittedly not heavily experienced in doing this sort of thing, but like you, interested in learning this technique, and have seen it implemented in different ways before. You'll likely want to add a Formula-URL type field to the form for the button part, but the formula for generating a URL that includes the notification trigger logic in Quickbase would depend on your specific use-case and how you might have the notifications on the table configured. I'm no formula guru -- so turned to ChatGPT to see if I could garner some insight quickly -- but have not tested. Worth trying: Here's a generic example using the `URLRoot()` and `URLRootToPath()` functions: var text URL = URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_YOUR_TABLE] & "?a=API_EditRecord" & "&rid=" & URLEncode([Record ID#]) & "&_fid_YourField=" & URLEncode("Notification Trigger Value"); $URL Replace `YOUR_TABLE`, `Record ID#`, `YourField`, and `"Notification Trigger Value"` with the appropriate values for your scenario. This example assumes that you want to trigger a notification when clicking the button. I suspect your approach to change a status that would then be picked up by a notification you have configured on the table to be triggered would be something similar: To create a button that changes a status in Quickbase, you can use a formula that constructs a URL with the necessary parameters for updating a record.
