  • Typically, most systems are able to use Excel or at least a csv file to import and export data.  I suggest you start there.
  • Do you want to live BI reports or ones that are done on demand by uploading data files into it like CSV.

If you want live data, look into the Quickbase API SDKs available.  I am currently working on a BI dashboard on my own domain and I have achieved live data using the PHP SDK.
  • B- do you know any BI tools that support Quickbase API for reporting (without having to build it ourselves?) Thanks!!
  • I don't, sorry.  I know there are some tools out their like Zapier and itDuzzit they may offer some help integrating data.  But I think your best bet if you dont want to build a custom system is to follow Mark's advice above and go the CSV/Excel import route as most BI software accepts these formats.

Maybe create a set of reports to export just for this purpose.
  • Thanks for the quick response. I plan to check out Elastic Intelligence as Intuit purchased it last year and it says it can be a SaaS link for these types of reporting needs. If anyone has integrated with that, I'd be interested in hearing about it!
  • I can't seem to find EI since Intuit got involved. They became ConnectionCloud, but that site goes to invalid Intuit pages. Not sure if anything will come out of it, as I heard Intuit also acquired itDuzzit too and I haven't seen any new feature releases with these "connectors" or similar.

I also checked Intuit Labs website and nothing there either.

What happens to companies/tech when acquired by Intuit?
  • Good question!! I'm having the same issues trying to find the actual tools after the press release. What QB really needs is a connection to fully functional reporting tools, as those included are definitely lacking in native.

One to look out for: Domo - they say they can integrate with QB API - so fingers crossed!

You can use QuNect as the connector between Quickbase and Qilkview.....via ODBC...very easy to set-up and use....Qilkview may allow you to schedule an auto refresh of your Quickbase data....I know Tableau does....
  • I just noticed this one called Easy Insight by Quickbase partner Advantage Integrated Solutions - looks great - plus free trial and inexpensive. Has anyone tried it out?

    Palanee,

We had the same problem and have built a product to get data out of Quick Base into a SQL compliant DB.  The tool is called Paasporter.

    www.paasporter.com

It gives you a real SQL DB which Business Intelligence packages can natively connect to.  Your Quick Base data is now a SQL source to be used with all the other data in the company like marketing or ecommerce DBs.

Let me know if I can help.
