  • 1.  Downloading large data table

    Posted 02-27-2022 20:26
I tried to download a large table over 600,000 records into a CSV file, but it exceeds the limits.

I read some old posts that say to divide it into chunks. I would like to do that. As a viewer of the file I am unable to do anything but download the file. I could get by with just a subset of the data to use in some new reports.

I'm not sure how to do this?

As long as you have the ability to make a report, you should be able to make a filter.  You might try to see what range the Record ID#s are in and make some report which filters on blocks of Record IDs.  Or we can help you with a report formula to filter on an <ask the user> based on day # of the week, like 0 through 6 and run 7 reports.

    Hi Mark,

The problem is I am just a viewer of the app. So I don't have access to
the filters or to field settings.

This might work. I see the columns have filters. This one is an encounter date, so it covers four years. Say I want just the data from the last quarter Oct-Dec 2021, how would I enter the date range here?

That field may be labelled as a date but it does not appear to be an actual date field it probably has the text of a date in it.  Do you have the ability to customize the report? Even viewers often have the ability to create personal reports. If you have that ability you will be able to use the menu at the top right corner which looks a little bit like an abacus to customize the report. Then you will be able to make your own filters based on say date created or something like that

    Hi Bob,

Another option if you aren't able to create a personal report to filter the data is to touch base with the admin for the app your using and see if you can get the permissions you need to make that kind of report. It is possible they made the role without the permissions but would be happy to help you get access to the data you need for the work you are doing if they get that feedback.

Thanks Evan and Don, I may need to do that,. I could probably look at the  charts and tables on the page or dashboard with just a subset of the data but it would be nice to get all the years of data since since a couple of the bar charts go into a 4-year comparison.
