Can't read table column headers. Shading and font colors make it unreadable.

    Hi Greg,

What browser are you using that you are seeing this issue with the shading and font color on your column headers?

    Is this the same issue?
In Firefox, Chrome, and IE we are not seeing shading on report rows- except for the grouping and headers. This is for dashboard reports as well as embedded and common reports. We would love to have the alternate line shading back. All of the white is blinding when studying large reports and it makes it (visually) hard to separate lines of data.">https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1696676/RackMultipart20180125-74381-1dlxard-No_Shading_in_Reports_inline.PNG?1516917179">

Different issue - but one that I had noticed but hadn't figured out yet why it was bothering me.
HEY EVERYONE!  Want to know how it used to look??? Go to the QB help!  Screenshots galore of the old UI!  For example, here's is a picture of the alternate row shading that Heather wants back (as do I).

    Posted 01-25-2018 22:32
I think Heather's screen shot shows best how the font is blurring.

The old style with alternate row shading is much more usable than what it is now.

Can we change back to the blue color?  I was able to change the heading by "branding", but what about the App Tabs?  Can they be changed?

    Hey Barbara,
Thanks for commenting. We're looking at solutions for the App Tabs, and incorporating branding is definitely a component of any great solution.

If you'd like to provide more feedback about enhancements we can make for branding, head over to our user voice here:

I was using Google Chrome.  I can read the headers in Microsft Edge and Explorer, but on those two, the data header fonts are black against a dark gray background and also are difficult to read.

Thank you for the confirmation on the browsers and the behavior you are seeing. I am passing that feedback on to our Escalation Lead so they can look into that behavior.

Thank you, Sam.  I expect the new UI release bugs will be resolved soon.  As a Product Manager in a previous life, I feel your pain.

To be honest, I did not read the release notes.  I just use QuickBase and expect it to work for my needs.  But again, as a former Product Manager, I would be fuming if Project Management rolled out a release like this.  Apparently testing missed it.  I'm sure that you will agree that It shouldn't be left up to users to find this obvious of a bug.

    Cheers

    Greg

    Greg,
I agree with your issue. You are specifically referring to Summary Reports where the letters in the colum group by field are black on a grey background which does not have enough contrast. That does need to be changed.

This is not an issue of just whether or not we like purple. We cant read the column headings in Summary reports.

I am getting really tired of not being able to control the app bar/UI color at either a user or app level. How is quickbase an enterprise app if it can't be configured to follow corporate design guidelines of at least a color scheme? First, everything was shaded blue, so i had to design all of our buttons and rich text fields in our app to match the blue just to get a coherent palette on screen, even if it wasn't (our) palette. Now it's purple, so we either live with blue and purple mix, or I get to spend all day recoloring field design elements to match. The new design is a step in the right direction, but anything that forcibly faces the end user (ie app bar) that we can't control should be a design NEUTRAL color (ie white or gray, just like the rest of the forced UI) ...You like purple, fine. Just don't force it down our throats. Either make it NEUTRAL or modifiable.

    Hey Justin,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the rebrand. I definitely agree we need more branding options throughout the Quick Base product. I'd hope you can share your feedback on our Uservoice portal. Here's a relevant post which I'll be using to make the case for these improvements:

I can "brand" anything within QuickBase using Service Workers and so can you.

I fully endorse and agree with you. There is a bit of a arrogance about this.  I witnessed the same when I posted a long list of things that are amiss in native QB and no one bothered to come back to me if anything can be done about those.  Resorting to user voice is another non sense which leads to nowhere and if it does, it is years before an issue is fixed.

@Evan, the upper right links (help, search, favorites, etc) are invisible unless you roll over them on Mac Chrome and Mac Safari.

    Jonathan,
I tested on an app with a custom logo and and without and the icons show on both.

One has the default white on purple Quick Base chevron Logo and one has a Corporate Logo.

    Hi All,

I just looked over at all the apps. It is because of if you have set the background color of the header is white in the branding section. Please change the header color from white to another color.

    Thanks,

Really - we have a dozen apps? I have to go change the header color for ALL of them? This is a bug that should be fixed.

I've changed header color of most of the apps in the morning when I noticed this issue.

The higher level Platform plan has a global Realm Branding setup, so it can allow for a consistent look  for all apps and just one place to maintain the look for all apps.  But that does not allow a choice of colors for the tabs.

    App Properties
    Branding
    Customize App Header and Footer
    Basic

...  and then chose the background color and font color

We changed our header color using realm management, but the text color override no longer works, so if you go with a white background you can't see the quick links.

An army of developers and they cannot test the changes beforehand on various browsers before rolling it out, beggars belief.

I tested several browsers.  The view displayed on Google Chrome is the worst.  MS Edge, Explorer, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox are identical and all display slightly better than Chrome.

Firefox on a PC was awful, font-wise. Bulky/thick/choppy. Chrome isn't the best, but I can do it better than Firefox. fwiw.
