Adding Location Map on Parent Form

Morning, Afternoon, and Evening everyone.

I have three tables:

Relationships:
Work Orders < Locations
Subdivisions < Locations
Subdivisions < Work Orders

When I create a new Location in the Location table via the Location form, once there is an address in the Address Field, it populates a map of the location, even before saving the record.
I am assuming that it is because it is an Address Field and it is built to do that.

In my Work Orders form, I can select the Subdivision, then the Locations record picker will only give me a list of the locations associated with that Subdivision, based upon conditional formatting.

However, when I select the Location, no map populates in the Work Order form.
I am assuming it is because the Location field in the Work Orders form is a lookup field conditionally built upon the Subdivision selection.

I have found a way to have a map populate once the record is saved, but not after selecting the location and prior to saving the record.

Is there a way to have the Location field in the Work Orders form behave like the Address field in the Locations form, and show a corresponding map prior to saving the record?

Here is an image of the map in the Locations' form. It is visible before even saving the record.

Here is an image of the location from the Work Orders form but not showing the map, even if the location is selected, before or after saving the record.

Your thoughts, input, suggestions, recommendations, are much appreciated!

  • Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately currently there would not be a way to get that looked up report to populate based on picking it in the dropdown prior to a save. That is because the relationships and the data flow isn't finalized in the way that it is currently checked. So you can't get a visual like that to show till after the save is committed. If being able to see that ahead of a save is helpful I would suggest putting that in as a User Voice request. User Voice is a tool our product development teams use to track user interest in new features and enhancements to existing features. The Quick Base User voice can most easily be accessed from the My Apps page in Quick Base by clicking on the orange Feedback tab that appears on the right of the page or at http://quickbase.uservoice.com by signing in with your Quick Base credentials.

If you do make that request I would suggest adding a link to it here in this thread so that other users with the same need can add their votes as well. I hope this information is at least helpful Andrew and thanks for your time today .

      Evan,

Thank you very much for the information. I found it very helpful.

I understand that the data flow is not yet committed so it doesn't have a viable record from which to select and show the corresponding map.

I don't think it is a game breaker, just something that would be beneficial.

I will take your advise and submit a User Voice.

Thank again for the info! Have a great day.
