Assign access to reports by report group?

Is it possible to assign access to a report group so that any report in that group is only accessible to the roles that have permission? For example: Report group "COMMON" - (accessible ...

Personally, my own philosophy is that users only find reports that are put on dashboards. So I tend to make report link buttons or the big buttons on dashboards and group them by function so the people can find the reports they want.
