Can a webhook insert a null value (clear a field)?

I have a webhook that takes a formula list field, and enters into a scalar multi-select list field.

It works perfect unless the formula field is blank. Then it doesn't clear out the scalar field. I tried setting the formula to 'null' but it didn't like that syntax. Anyone know how to make this work?
