Cannot add children in grid edit mode any more, is there a workaround?

In grid edit mode (on an embedded report link), when you try to add records you can add them, BUT, it does not associate them with the parent, so you just are adding orphaned children. I was hoping that I could work around by creating a grid edit report where the 'Related Field is Ask the User' and then make a button to that report. But that also added orphaned children.

I can work around this by making the report link editable. Children are added correctly when using editable report links. Any other work around anyone has found?

Note: I do not believe this bug always exists. I believe it starts as soon as you have *any* editable report link on your form, then it breaks all other report links and you can no longer add in grid edit mode. This is not confirmed, as I have pin pointed the moment the grid edit add, breaks. If someone else knows for sure, please let me know.
