Click on Pencil - Open in New Tab

Hello,

Is there a way to set it up so that clicking on the pencil from within a grid edit report opens up the form in a new tab? I know that I can right-click and select that option, but I want to make it easy for my users so that they don't have to remember to do that.

Thank you,

Kim

  • Hi Kim,

Currently there is not a setting to toggle that would default to opening the edit pencil to a new window, you would have to user the method you described. If that is something that would be helpful to your use of Quick Base though I would suggest submitting that request to our User Voice. User Voice is a tool our product development team uses to track user interest in new features and enhancements. The Quick Base User voice can most easily be accessed from the My Apps page in Quick Base by clicking on the orange Feedback tab that appears on the right of the page or at http://quickbase.uservoice.com by signing in with your Quick Base credentials. If you do post up this request I would suggest adding a link to it here in this community thread as well so that other community members can add their vote as well if they have the same need.

  • There is no need for a QuickBase specific toggle as this functionality already exists on modern PCs (no idea about Macs, but I assume it works there as well)! Commonly called "middle click", you can either press down on the scroll wheel of your mouse (as if it was a button) or press both the left and right mouse buttons at the same time to generate the "middle click" action. Middle clicking anywhere in QuickBase will open pages in a new tab, so when doing this on the pencil, the record will open in edit mode in a new tab. Hope this helps.
