Hmmmm, there must be an answer but I don't know what it is right now. I will have to try a test on my own or maybe someone else has an answer.

  I'm gonna open a support case just to see if this restriction is intentional and if there is some documentation on it. I'm gonna try to get around it by doing a full copy of the table through an automation and then assigning keys that way.

    Do you really need a relationship?
    
    You can have a report link field without having a relationship.
    
    If you need summary fields that would normally happen on a relationship you can use a formula query for that.
    
    So you should probably be able to get the features of a relationship without having a relationship.
