Creating a pie chart in a grandparent table

np, it's easier than you think.

Your reporters table probably has a field called related media outlet. Look that up down to media request and I suggest calling it what it is, [record ID of media outlet].

next, just create a field of report link field type, call, perhaps [report link of media requests].

on the left side, configure it with simply record ID, that will be the record ID of the media outlet and then on the right side navigate to locate your app and then The media request Table and locate that field record ID of media request.  During that navigation watch for any pop-up blockers as you may have to click typically near the top right of the URL to unblock the pop-up. 

Then just put that report on the form, if it's a legacy style form, then you just put the report link field on the form and specify one of those pie charts as the report to use, in Form Properties.
